Cattery

About us

I was pleased to have my prefix “Glamour Puss” registered with NRR and approved by FIFe, in 2007. I chose this name simply because I think Sacred Birmans have a glamorous look about them. My ambition is to having just a few cats for showing, breeding and of course as companions.

My aim is to produce good quality kittens, with 'purr'fect 'purr'sonalities. My cats live with us as part of the family and have access to an enclosed garden with trees and rocks for climbing and plenty of activity and fresh air.

Where did it all start?

My love of Birmans started many years ago after seeing this beautiful cat at The National Cat Show, England. I was spellbound by those blue eyes and the details of the white paws, which just looked like they’d been dipped in cream! I immediately bought (the now famous) Birman “bible”, The Birman Cat”, by Vivienne Smith. Previously, we had always taken in homeless cats, but now I wanted to indulge myself in couple of Birmans for showing and breeding. Fate, however, decided otherwise and my dream had to be shelved, due to extensive travelling.

About 3 years ago, I decided it was about time to realise my dream, so I found my precious old book and began to brush up on my Birman knowledge.

Some things were just meant to be, Turid Botten (of Ontario prefix) was one of two Norwegian breeders mentioned in Smith’s book. Whilst surfing the internet for Birman breeders in Norway, I suddenly found out Turid was living just 3 hours drive away, and she was still breeding Birmans! It must have been fate. As luck had it she soon had a Lilac point, show quality, male kitten to let me look at. When I visited, he was a very cuddly kitten and had a special, loving expression in his eyes, just like the mother cat. The rest is history - I called him Louis, after the English artist and cat lover Louis Wain. Louis has turned out to be a lovely boy, a neuter, who is doing quite well on the show bench.

Soon afterwards I started looking for a female kitten of breeding quality. I eventually found Eliven’s cattery (Oslo) Elisabeth V. Sagerud, who had two adorable females for sale. It was the hardest job I ever had, to choose between those two girls and I’ll never forget it. Finally, I chose Celeste and I’ve never looked back since! She’s a little darling and I hope will be a good foundation queen and produce some nice kittens in time.
